Terms & Conditions
Cut with Purpose • Richmond, BC • Summer 2026 Campaign
Effective date: May 22, 2026 • Last updated: May 22, 2026
These Terms & Conditions (“Terms”) govern the lawn mowing service provided by The Organizing Committee of Cut with Purpose campaign (“we,” “us,” or “our”) to customers in Richmond, BC. By booking a service and making payment, you agree to be bound by these Terms in full. Please read them carefully before booking.
1. Service Description
Cut with Purpose provides a one-time residential front and back lawn mowing service per booking. The service includes:
- Mowing of the front lawn and back lawn of the booked residential property
- All tools, mowing equipment, and safety gear are provided by the campaign
- Service is delivered by student participants under the campaign’s supervision
The service does not include edging, trimming around obstacles, debris or clipping removal, garden bed maintenance, or any work beyond standard lawn mowing unless specifically arranged in writing with the campaign.
2. Booking and Payment
- The service fee is $50.00 CAD per booking, payable in full at the time of booking via the secure Stripe checkout on our website
- Each booking covers one property (front and back lawn) during the scheduled service week for the customer’s neighborhood zone
- Payment must be completed before service is delivered; no service will be provided without a confirmed, paid booking
- Bookings are confirmed by email after payment is processed
3. No Refund Policy
All bookings are final and non-refundable. Once payment is processed through Stripe, funds are immediately committed across student earnings, platform fees, and campaign costs — making individual refunds technically impractical for our small, student-run campaign. This reflects our current understanding of our setup and payment gateway, and we are genuinely open to revisiting this policy should a workable refund process become available in the future.
In the rare event that we are unable to deliver the service and rescheduling is not possible — for example, due to an unforeseen circumstance partially beyond our control — we will not let your payment go without purpose. The student’s allocated share of the booking fee will be donated in full to the Richmond Hospital Foundation on your behalf, ensuring your contribution still reaches the community in a meaningful way. We are truly grateful for your trust and understanding.
4. Service Scheduling
- Services are organized by Richmond neighborhood zone. Each zone has a designated service week (see the service schedule on our website)
- The specific service day within the zone week will be confirmed by email once crew availability is finalized for your area
- We cannot guarantee an exact arrival time. Customers will receive a morning or afternoon service window with their confirmation
- If you are unavailable during the service window, please ensure your property is accessible (gate unlocked, pets secured) so the crew can proceed without requiring you to be present
5. Customer Responsibilities
To ensure a safe and efficient service, the customer agrees to:
- Ensure clear and unobstructed access to all lawn areas to be mowed (front and back)
- Secure all pets and animals before the service window
- Remove large objects, toys, furniture, or other obstacles from lawn areas prior to the service visit
- Ensure that gates or side-yard access points are unlocked during the confirmed service window
- Notify the campaign in advance of any known hazards or features requiring care (e.g., irrigation heads, underground lines, garden beds, retaining walls)
The campaign reserves the right to decline or postpone service if the property is found to be inaccessible or unsafe for the crew upon arrival.
6. Weather and Rescheduling
- If weather conditions are deemed unsafe or unsuitable for mowing (e.g., heavy rain, thunderstorms, extreme heat), the campaign will reschedule the service at its sole discretion
- Customers will be notified by email as early as possible when a weather rescheduling occurs
- Weather rescheduling does not entitle the customer to a refund; see the No Refund Policy above
- We will make reasonable efforts to reschedule within the same campaign season (July–August 2026)
7. Fund Allocation Preferences
After payment, customers are invited to submit their preferred allocation of the $50.00 service fee among four recipients: the student, campaign costs, RDLA, and Richmond Hospital Foundation.
- Two minimums always apply: the student receives at least 60% ($30.00), and campaign costs receive at least 10% ($5.00)
- Allocation preferences are advisory and carried out in good faith by the campaign organizers; they do not constitute a legally binding instruction to transfer funds to specific third parties
- RDLA and the Richmond Hospital Foundation are independent organizations with no formal affiliation to Cut with Purpose; donations to them are made at the campaign’s discretion in accordance with stated preferences
8. Liability and Limitations
- The campaign is not responsible for damage to pre-existing lawn conditions, underground features, unmarked irrigation systems, or any fixture not disclosed to us in advance
- In the event of property damage directly and solely caused by the campaign’s mowing service, our liability is limited to the total amount paid for the service ($50.00 CAD)
- The campaign and its organizers are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages of any kind
- The campaign does not carry commercial general liability insurance; customers with high-value landscaping or known hazards on their property assume the associated risk
- Student participants are supervised volunteers and are not employees of the customer
9. Campaign Affiliation Disclaimer
Cut with Purpose is an independent student-led campaign. We have no formal affiliation, partnership, or organizational connection with RDLA (Responsible Drug Learning Association) or the Richmond Hospital Foundation. We direct a portion of campaign proceeds to these organizations because their work aligns with our community values. Donations are made in good faith and are not tax-receipted through this campaign.
10. Modifications to Terms
We reserve the right to update these Terms at any time. The most current version is always available at cutwithpurpose.ca/terms.html. Continued use of the campaign website or services after any update constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of British Columbia, Canada. Any disputes arising from these Terms or the services provided shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of British Columbia.
